Fueling the Mission: Argus’ Ongoing Partnership with Veterans Community Project

At Argus, giving back is part of who we are. As one of the core pillars of our Fuel It Forward community outreach program, serving those who have stood to serve our country, we are honored to support the mission of Veterans Community Project (VCP) in meaningful ways.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Month this April, we’re reflecting with gratitude on the impact VCP makes in our community and across the country, the power of showing up, and the importance of continuing to serve those who’ve selflessly served our nation. We’re also excited to share a tail-wagging way to get involved this May, with an event we’re supporting called VCP Battle Buddies Yappy Hour.

For Veterans, By Veterans: About Veterans Community Project

Founded in Kansas City by a group of combat Veterans who saw critical gaps in available services, Veterans Community Project is on a mission to end Veteran homelessness. The nonprofit provides transitional housing, wrap-around support services, and emergency assistance, available to ANY Veteran regardless of discharge status or service history.

At VCP’s Kansas City headquarters, you’ll find the VCP Village and the VCP Outreach Center. Each of the 49 tiny homes in the Village comes fully furnished with all the amenities to provide stability, safety, and privacy for their Veterans, and unlike many transitional housing options, they are pet friendly! Beyond housing, support services and individualized assistance are provided through the help of case management staff, mentoring, and counseling. Due to this hands-on, holistic approach, 85% of Veterans in VCP Village successfully transition to sustainable, long-term housing of their own.

Using the flagship location in Kansas City as the blueprint, VCP has expanded its model, serving six other communities across the United States, providing a need for Veterans who are having trouble finding assistance through traditional systems.

“The partnership between Veterans Community Project and Argus is very meaningful to me,” said Chris Straub, President of Argus Consulting, Inc. “We were looking to find a cause our team could truly embrace, get their arms around, and have fun being a part of—while also making a real impact. It isn’t just about giving back; it’s about recognizing that what we do makes a difference. We have Veterans on our team and work on military projects, so we have immense personal respect for those who’ve served our country. VCP’s founders identified a critical gap in available resources to all Veterans and worked to fill that need—that kind of purpose is inspiring to us. We’re honored to support VCP and weave this partnership into the fabric and culture of Argus.”

A Partnership Rooted in Service: Argus and VCP

As an employee-owned company, every hour volunteered and every dollar contributed reflect the shared values of our team. Over the years, our people have stepped up with the time, energy, and heart to help however they can. Whether it’s prepping meals, stringing holiday lights, collecting winter essentials, stocking commissary shelves, or contributing to events and donation drives, the work is personal, hands-on, and deeply meaningful.

It's not about grand gestures, but about showing up, again and again.

“At Veterans Community Project, we believe that community is the key to honoring the promise of ‘leave no one behind.’ The team at Argus Consulting embodies that promise in action,” said Kasi Brizuela, Community Engagement Coordinator at VCP. “Their time, energy, and compassion have a lasting impact - not just on our VCP Village, but on the lives of the Veterans we serve. We’re deeply grateful for their hands-on support and continued partnership in helping our Veterans move toward stability and hope.”

Join Us, Thursday, May 8: Battle Buddies Yappy Hour

We’re honored to sponsor VCP’s upcoming Battle Buddies Yappy Hour event on Thursday, May 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bar K for an evening of fun, fundraising, and four-legged friends.

Bar K is Kansas City’s one-of-a-kind dog park and bar, located on the Riverfront and designed for both dogs and their humans to socialize, eat, and play. It’s the pawfect setting for this spirited, pet-friendly event!

Bring your coworkers, friends, family, or your own battle buddy, and enjoy a pet fashion show, live music, caricature artist, puppy massages and more, all in support of the Veterans and their four-legged friends living in VCP Village.

VCP Village is one of the rare shelters where veterans don’t have to choose between a roof over their head and their loyal companions - both are welcome! We invite you to join us in making a difference. Your support at this event helps create homes, heal hearts, and honor service with compassion, dignity, and a wagging tail or two.

Fuel the Mission. Fuel It Forward.

What makes a difference isn’t the size of your company or organization - it’s about the size of your commitment. And for our team at Argus, supporting Veterans Community Project has become an important part of how we show up for our community.

April’s National Volunteer Month reminds us that the best way to lead is by doing. When you give your time and energy to something greater than yourselves, the reward is immeasurable. To honor service with compassion, to turn connection into action, and to continue fueling a mission that builds more than homes. It builds hope.
